Why I need to uninstall Discord
Ahh yes, the feeling of being a part of a "community" and confide in online "friends" rather than being in the moment and talking with people who matter the most to us, it's like we all instinctively move towards the former and give ourselves a tough time. Nobody else can mess up our emotions more than we ourselves can. And yep, Social media apps are generally a thing to be avoided, esp in today's day and age.
"BbUt wHy?" And "ChIll oUT bOoMEr!!" are things that you might shout at me, but by the end of this article, you might see that the grass is indeed greener on the other side.
Social media is inherently designed to feed you chock full of dopamine inducing feed through complex algorithms that track you both inside and OUTSIDE the app itself, and as they say, if it's a free product, them YOU'RE the product. Targeted ads related to your recent searches further cement my claim and I know you can probably relate to it.
You're actively ruining your life by gaping at other's specifically curated and "totally real" moments of joy and accomplishment. It makes your life feel more worthless than it already is. Wake up bro. Social media is just a bunch of well-maintained facades of people who pretend their life is awesome.
Instead of changing your profile to something like "save trees" and sharing posts about saving Palestine or something and being done with it, you can atleast try taking a step, however insignificant, in real life. Where it actually matters. Planted a sapling? Sorted the trash? You're already doing your part. Don't waste your time pretending you care on social media when you truly don't give much importance to it IRL. And let's face it., your LOLs and Lmao's in chat doesn't even line up with your stoic, scowl-plastered face IRL so stop pretending.
Now, just do what I say. Minimize this tab and go take a look at your digital wellbeing page. Look at the amount of hours spent of "Snapgram" or "Tweetbook" or other diabolical shi like them. A lot, ofc! Thinking about the sheer amount of time you WASTED scrolling brainrot on "TikTak"! You think that's time well spent!? Your entire life is being HARVESTED upon by Devious Corporate Tactics to keep you entrenched in a steaming PILE of useless and worthless content designed to keep you miserable enough to not move in life and demand your attention to them. Unless you get your act together RIGHT NOW, things won't get better for you.
Not to mention, countless people get doxxed for just posting on social media. My relatives have got their accounts hacked too. Your safety is being actively compromised the more your online footprint increase. You never know, stalkers might be stalking your profile RIGHT NOW. geoguessers guessing your location based on that random grass patch you posted. Your photo's metadata stripped off and coordinates stolen. Your data being sold off to other companies for targeting you ahh with ads.
You might be asking: how is it even possible to distance ourselves from social media when society demands us to stay connected? And I get it. Even educational institutions use social media to connect with the students. Jobs require you to have an account on several platforms. It is imperative to be active on some platforms in order to upkeep your social standing with others in today's era. What I'm advocating is mindful usage, not a complete barricade on social media platforms. Remember to distance yourselves and not let yourself drown in the sea of misery by taking anything to your heart. ❤️ Be mindful of what you post. Don't fall for fake news, be vigilant. Stay connected with people you care about. All the best on your journey. Peace ✌️
Well...about the topic of this article....i strayed off, I know. I'll have to uninstall Discord some other time. 👀
